Sarah Charnaud, Julia Cutts, Angela Devine & Herbert Opi

Sarah Charnaud is a Senior Research Officer at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute. Her research focuses on using genetics to understand host-pathogen interactions between humans and the malaria causing Plasmodium, particularly Plasmodium vivax. The aim is to inprove malaria treatment programs and enable new therapeutic development. Sarah is an ACREME fellow and an NHMRC Peter Doherty fellow. Julia Cutts is a Senior Research Officer at the Burnet Institute. Her research focuses on protective immune responses to malaria in different epidemiological settings. Julia also serves as project manager for the Australian Centre of Research Excellence in Malaria Elimination (ACREME), a network of researchers addressing roadblocks in the surveillance, diagnosis and treatment of malaria in the Asia Pacific region. Angela Devine is a Health Economist with Menzies Schoool of Health Research and University of Melbourne. Her research focuses on the costs and cost-effectiveness of options for vivax malaria management. She is also a member of Australian Centre of Research Excellence in Malaria Elimination (ACREME). Herbert Opi is a Research Officer at the Burnet Institute. His research focuses on understanding the mechanisms of immunity to Plasmodium falciparum and P. vivax malaria and identifying serological markers for malaria transmission.
