Improving the discoverability of negative results in biomedical research

Journal of Negative Results in BioMedicine (JNRBM) supports the idea that scientists should be provided with balanced information which can offer a more complete scientific record, thereby reducing the risk of publication bias or later rebuttal of research. In addition to this, it promotes the discussion of unexpected and provocative negative results in the context of current tenets, and ultimately aims to encourage scientists and physicians of all fields to publish results that challenge current models or dogmas.

In order to enhance the discoverability of these negative data which span the spectrum of biomedical research, JNRBM has implemented ‘subject browsing’, which now enables readers to browse high-quality negative results within a particular sub-discipline. Amongst the areas attracting the most publications are Genetics, Neuroscience, Cell Biology and Pharmacology.

JNRBM is on Twitter (@JNRBM) and we aim to keep you up to date with the latest developments in this evolving and exciting area of research. To submit your manuscript documenting unexpected and provocative negative data or results, please click here. If you are interested in writing a Commentary article about your views on negative results, please email bjorn_olsen@hms.harvard.edu to discuss your proposal.
