Kwame Sakyi

Dr. Kwame Sakyi is an Assistant Professor of Public Health at Oakland University, Rochester, MI. He is also the co-founder and Director of the Center for Learning and Childhood Development-Ghana, a non-profit that implements solutions to reduce newborn deaths and promote early childhood development. Over the past ten years, his research has examined the determinants of maternal, neonatal, and child well-being in low and middle-income countries and interventions to address them. On HIV, his work focuses on the social, psychological, and cultural factors that contribute to HIV transmission and uptake of HIV-related services in the postpartum period. Dr. Sakyi is the recipient of several grants and awards, including NIH National Research Service Award (Grant, T32DA1391), NIH R25 Training Fellowship (R25 R25MH83620), and the Young Alumni Career Award from Albion College, Albion, MI. Dr. Sakyi received his master's and Ph.D. training in International Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Baltimore, MD.
