Category award winners and shortlists announced for BioMed Central’s 6th Annual Research Awards

 Our annual Research Awards recognize the excellence in research published across our journals in the   past year.

 BioMed Central Research Award 2011

 We are pleased to announce the winners for the ten award categories:

The winning articles, selected by internationally renowned judges, have been chosen for their innovation and high-quality execution and discussion. These winners will automatically be shortlisted for the overall BioMed Central Research Award, the winner of which will be announced at the BioMed Central Research Awards ceremony.

Open Data Award 2011

The shortlist for the Open Data Award, sponsored by LabArchives has also now been announced. The award seeks to recognize researchers who have published in BioMed Central journals and have demonstrated leadership in the sharing, standardization, publication, or re-use of biomedical research data.  The award is selected by a judging panel with particular interests in scientific data sharing and publication: authors of the ‘Panton Principles for Open Data in Science, Cameron Neylon, Peter Murray-Rust, Rufus Pollock and John Wilbanks. They are joined by CEO of LabArchives, a company which provides online laboratory notebook software for sharing and publishing data, Earl Beutler, along with BioMed Central’s Publisher (Open Science), Iain Hrynaszkiewicz.

The winning articles will be announced at a ceremony held in London, UK on 17th May. Awards for Case Report of the Year, Open Access Advocate/Institution of the Year and Editor of the Year will also be presented.
