Dingase Kumwenda

Dingase is a young Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre, a referral centre in the southern part of Malawi. She has a special interest in gynaecological diseases that usually affect women who lack access to good quality reproductive health services. While working on the MORBID-FGS study, she has reviewed over 1,000 images of the external tract, taken from women who were being screened for female genital schistosomiasis using hand-held colposcopes. Realising the burden of this disease among rural women in Malawi has fuelled her passion to improve awareness and early diagnosis through educating health care workers and advocacy for cheap diagnostic tools
