Professor Didier Pittet is as an infectious diseases expert and the director of the Infection Control Programme and World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre on Patient Safety, University of Geneva Hospitals and Faculty of Medicine, Geneva, Switzerland. Since 2005, he served also as the External Lead for the WHO Global Patient Safety Challenge "Clean Care is Safer Care", later renamed Save Lives: Clean Your Hands, a large WHO action.
